Whether driving a train, maintaining the infrastructure, or communicating with signallers or line controllers, our workforce is responsible for keeping the public and colleagues safe. To work safely, we need to have a clear head and be able to respond to challenging situations quickly. But rail staff are human too, and can find themselves using drugs or alcohol to cope with life. The rail industry standard for testing safety critical workers for drugs and alcohol is being revised. In this session we will discuss:
- What the proposed revisions to the standard mean for frontline staff
- How to get help if you think you have a problem with drugs or alcohol
In this session, we will hear from a someone who got help early and learn how railway work and recovery can go hand in hand.
