Neil will explain what post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is (and what it is not), outline the main symptoms and explain what happens in terms of accessing care, treatment and outcome. He will also provide an overview of how the potential for staff to develop PTSD can be minimized within rail organisations through ensuring that peer support, psychologically focused leadership and ready access to expert assessment and care. Following a short Q&A session with Neil he will then interview Michael Setchell, a former train driver, who experienced traumatic events at work and consequently developed PTSD. We will hear about his journey and what steps he took which helped him.
