According to the BPI, music listening was at an all-time high in 2020, leading researchers to speculate that music played a key role in lifting moods during lockdown. This session will explore what happens in the brain when we listen to a favourite song and will explain why music has the power to regulate emotions, boost wellbeing and promote good relationships. We will look at the physical and psychological benefits of listening to both happy and sad songs, as well as discussing how music can provide a unique gateway to understanding other people.
